Joining the Practice

We have had to temporarily close our books to any new client or pet who is already registered with a vet and has veterinary care in place.

We have put this measure in place as we have become incredibly busy and we need to be able to offer the high level of service our clients and patients expect and deserve.

if you wish to discuss your particular situation please do call, but please respect the staff decisions.
We will re open our books intermittently over the coming months - please call if you would like to be put on the waiting list to join us.

We welcome patients of all shapes and sizes. Just call 01727 874700 to register.

We look after all companion animals, but do have a few rules and restrictions which we abide by. We do not specialise in the more exotic pets, such as reptiles and birds, or chickens, although are happy to see them. If you have one of these pets you may prefer to find a vet with more specialist expertise in this area.

Practice Registration Policies

We take on clients from St Albans, Bricket Wood, Radlett, London Colney, Hemel Hempstead, Watford and Borehamwood.  If you live outside this area it is at the Head vets' discretion as to whether we are able to take you on as a client. If you move out of our catchement area you will need to register with a vet local to your new address - you won't be able to remain on the books here. For more information on our distance policy/catchement area please call us and we'll be happy to explain it in detail.

If you are already registered at another vet, we will need to contact them and obtain your pets medical records before we can see you. This can take up to 48 hours so if your pet is unwell then you will need to take your pet to your current vet. If you are wanting to transfer vets then we would advise to do so when your pet is not unwell.
We are happy to provide second opinions, but do bear in mind that again we will need to get notes sent from your vet which can take 48 hours. If you pet is currrenly unwell it may not be suitable for you to move your pet to seek a second opinion and we will inform you if that is the case.

We do not allow clients to use more than 1 vet. This because it is essential to have good continuity of care for your pet, so that the one vet knows what is going on with your pet at all times. If you have a second home we will discuss that with you so appropriate arrangements can be made.

Out of Hours - we prefer clients to use our out of hours service at the Royal Veterinary College.
